How do I get started?
Tips for getting the most out of LightWatch.
LightWatch gets better the more feeds you add. A single feed might update once a day — but ten feeds updating throughout the day means there’s always something new to look at. The more feeds you add, the more steady of a stream you’ll create.
Remember, there is no algorithm, so you only see things as they’re posted. Your channels will be as interesting and dynamic as the feeds you put in them.
Start with what you already follow
If you have a favorite blog, portfolio site, or subreddit, try adding its URL. LightWatch will look for any feeds the site offers. Most blogging platforms, portfolio sites, and news outlets publish RSS feeds even if they don’t advertise them.
Use discovery feeds for inspiration
If you’re not sure where to start, the Add feed screen has a “Need ideas?” section with curated discovery feeds. These are hand-picked sources across different topics — tap any of them to preview the content before subscribing.
Try high-volume sources
While you should definitely follow specific users or artists you like, you may want to start by following sources that are more likely to update frequently, such as tags, topics, categories, trending lists, etc.
These aggregate feeds also help you discover individual creators. When available, LightWatch shows who posted each item, so you can follow artists you like directly from the gallery.
Build up over time
You don’t have to set everything up at once. Add a few feeds, browse for a day, and see what you enjoy. Remove what doesn’t work. Add more of what does. The gallery is yours to shape.
